Notes

  1. Masts are numbered from G/0/1 upwards across the Clyde covering all lines to Bridge Street Junction, and then continue to Eglinton Street Junction.  Here they meet "G" series masts counting from Euston.  Originally, the "Glasgow" count continued to Lesmahagow Junction with the 1960s electrification, being renumbered in 1974 to the "Euston" count.
  2. Measured in miles from High Street to just east of Airdrie, then in km but with continuous numbering putting the change over point at "11km", giving a false zero near Garrowhill.
  3. Measured in miles from Shields Junction to Corkerhill depot, then in km but with continuous numbering, giving a false zero near Shields Junction.
  4. Only wired from Edge Hill.  Originally electrified to Olive Mount Junction measured in miles and Earlestown-Deal Street Junction in km, since 2015 all wired in km.
  5. There exist drawings where the mast km counts up away from Paddington, but the individual masts within that km count up towards Paddington.
  6. There exist drawings where the mast km counts up away from Reading West Junction, but the individual masts within that km count up towards Reading West Junction.

LBSC/Southern Railway overhead system

The London, Brighton & South Coast Railway chose a DC overhead system to electrify its routes.  On merging into the Southern Railway this was replaced with the third rail system still in use today.  It is believed that the LBSC did not number its masts at all.  The overhead electrified routes were:
